Colors and joy return to the Odeon theatre in Lentini with “Harlequinade” by Stefania Lo Presti and “Inside Out” by Eleonora Modica

LENTINI –          The Odeon theatre in Lentini has finally reopened the curtain after the pause due to the pandemic. It was a good moment, given by the explosion of colors by Eleonora Modica and the elegant irony of the choreography by Stefania Lo Presti. All that turned the spotlight back on. “Harlequinade”, a beautiful reinterpretation of Stefania Lo Presti’s classic touch, brought us back to the carnival masks of our childhood, told with professionalism and skill.  The teacher Lo presti directed the ballet troupe of ballet, represented by a group of well-trained and deserving youngsters. The teacher Eleonora Modica brought the story of a Disney cartoon onto the scene, which moved all the spectators… the title is “Inside Out”. Both stories, by different paths, take us back to childhood. Very often, we adults do nothing but pose as puppets of time, whose ranks are moved by the affairs of others, neglecting our most intimate affairs and our affections.

Adults who attended the Arsischoreutica show at the Odeon theatre, for a moment they made a nice gift to their hearts, they stopped time, indeed they went back a bit until they opened the door of childhood and went inside.

There, they found two key characters in the growth of each individual: Childhood in the character of Riley and Fantasy in the character of Bing Bong, the girl’s imaginary friend. After some time spent together, they had to face the arrival of adolescence.

The latter is seen as an enemy, because it takes away all the carefree, the creativity and imagination of childhood.

Little Riley is guided by her emotions: Joy, Fear, Disgust and Sadness that help her face everyday life. Everything is constantly changing between inside, where there is the “Inside” heart and “Out” outside, where we witness the growth of the little girl who becomes an adolescent and turns her attention to other interests.

What about Bing Bong? For now the little girl is forced to leave him, but when she is an adult she will look for him again, maybe she will have a hard time finding him and will understand that, after having found him, she will always need him, especially in the most difficult moments and she will leave him there in the depths of her heart, without ever abandoning him more.

All this is represented by an explosion of colors that invade the stage, the background, the costumes of the dancers, their movements, their smiles and their caramelized tears. It is a river of color that carries emotions and feelings, floods the audience and returns to the bows of all the wonderful performers.

Carlo Goldoni with the “comedy of masks”, Pete Docter with his story of “Inside Out”, Eleonora Modica and Stefania Lo Presti with their choreography gave us a real emotional catharsis!
