CARLENTINI – On the evening of November 18, 2021 in the town of Carlentini, the curtain opened the door of great emotions. A cultural event of great importance took place: the inauguration of the municipal theater dedicated to the great actor Turi Ferro, by the “Teatro Arte” Association and by the Artistic Director AlfioBreci who, with his passion and love for theater, has created a theatrical season of great interest, which sees actors of national fame. With the words of Ugo Foscolo “A man never dies if there is someone who remembers him”, the evening dedicated to the opening of the theater officially opened, with a stage full of respectable artistic figures, such as Guglielmo and Francesca Ferro, sons of the artist, the actors Enrico Guarnieri and PippoPattavina who, as colleagues and great admirers of the great artist, recalled his mastery and his great professionalism. The evening, masterfully conducted by Dr. Salvo La Rosa, opens with the notes of the wonderful voice of Francesco Centarrì and the extraordinary musicians of his Quartet. In the welcoming setting of the new image of the enlarged and improved theater, that music has brought the audience into a dimension where the heart still beats. “… I missed you… I hope we won’t miss you anymore” said His Excellency the Prefect of Syracuse, addressing all the artists. Or as AlfioBreci read: “The beauty of a new beginning … where the two real pillars are the audience and the actors … the theater hasn’t even bent to the pandemic, because it is immortal” and it is immortal probably because, quoting Victor Hugo , there are “… human hearts in the hall, human hearts on the stage”. The voice of an interviewed spectator told us: “we are back to living with culture, we can return to laugh and get excited and the theater can return to experience the warmth of the public”. Finally, a surprise closure. The Ferro brothers gave the Artistic Director Alfio Breci a costume worn by the artist. Turi Ferro during the 1990-91 theater season. The kind gesture was immediately reciprocated by the Mayor of Carlentini who donated the Crest and the Banner of the City of Carlentini to the Ferro brothers. The parterre hosted personalities such as the Prefect of Syracuse, the Mayors of Carlentini, Lentini and Francofonte respectively and all the local authorities of the Police, the Guardia di Finanza and the Carabinieri. The evening with elegant, nice and pleasant tones, gave the audience the opportunity to turn the lights back on the stage, reopen the curtain, clap live, make the actors’ hearts beat, get them excited again, make them express, make them cry and make them laugh, in one word … make them live. After all … it was a moment of exchange of gifts between the audience and the actors, an inevitable, natural and indivisible exchange, from the time of ancient Greece, of Shakespearean theater to the present day. Beyond any crisis the human being may live, the exchange of true emotions, the sharing of feelings and the introspection of each man through the character, is a magic that can happen, only and only, in the extraordinary reality called Theater.
